SUN SKIING IN SAALBACH-HINTERGLEMM

5 THINGS TO MAKE SKIING ESPECIALLY BEAUTIFUL IN SPRING

The first warm rays of the sun can be felt on the skin. There are excellent piste conditions. In front of the huts on the mountain you can spend your lunch break in the sun chair. Clearly, spring is on the way!

We, your hosts Katrin and Roland Steger, tell you today why spring-like skiing gives us so much pleasure. And we are sure: the sunny days on the slopes will remain in good memory for a long time to come!

1. COMFORTABLE BLACKS IN FIRNSCHNEE

Typical for this time of year: While the snow high up on the mountain is still grippy, it already has a slightly sultry consistency in the valley. This means: At last we pull our turns again in pleasantly soft firn snow – we have been waiting for this all year round!

A positive side effect for those who have time to ski not only on weekends: During the week, fewer winter sports enthusiasts are on the slopes, as the high season is over. So look forward to free descents, no matter which sunny slope you choose.

2. THE FIRST TAN OF THE SEASON

As the season progresses, the sun’s rays become more intense again. And with it also the sun-kissed complexion, which you get at lunch outdoors. Numerous huts throughout the ski area have cosy sun terraces with sometimes even more comfortable sun loungers. Take a seat and enjoy the first messengers of spring surrounded by alpine panoramas. Sounds gorgeous? Is it!

3. ALSO LONGER SKIS

And because the sun shows up much longer in spring than in winter, numerous slopes still get some sun rays in the afternoon. This gives us a real boost of motivation at the later time of the day! Who can resist and does not want to climb the lift again in the direction of the mountain station?

4. THE BEST EVENTS OF THE SEASON

Anyone who thinks that the season is already over is mistaken: in spring, the ski region is once again really alive. Which events you should not miss, we will tell you on the blog. Between March and April we can highly recommend the White Pearl Mountain Days with cool music from live DJs, performances and much more! Enjoy a spring holiday feeling on the local slopes.

5. LESS IS MORE

Thanks to rising temperatures, we finally don’t need a down jacket or three layers of functional clothing anymore! In spring, it is often a good place to start skiing with a light jacket. Many hardened skiers and touring skiers are already on the road in their T-shirts. Nevertheless, it is important to pack warm clothes. Especially in the morning and in the evening it can get quite cold!

6. PERFECT FOR SPARFÜCHSE

On 31 March, the low season begins in the ski area and ski prices are also falling. Then a day ticket for adults costs only 45 euros instead of 53 euros. And skiing is doubly fun!

And the best thing about all this? From the Barbarahof you start directly into spring-like skiing in Saalbach via the house descent 34a.
