By the way: All those who prefer to conquer the mountains on skins, best take a look at our ski touring guide. This offers fantastic tours in Saalbach-Hinterglemm.
1. Promenade 1 to Hinterglemm:
for pleasure hikers
The leisurely hike along Promenade 1 leads along the creek from Saalbach to Hinterglemm. Since the trail is relatively flat, it is perfect for families or less sporty walkers. In winter, the route is regularly prepared. To strengthen, hard-working hikers can then stop in one of the numerous restaurants in Hinterglemm. If you don’t want to walk back, take the bus to Saalbach.
- Difficulty: easy
- Length: 7.2 km
- Duration: about 2 hours
- Start: Saalbach parking garage
2. The SpielbergHouse Round:
for ambitious people
This medium-heavy tour requires some perseverance. However, the efforts are rewarded with fantastic views and a delicious refreshment in the Spielberghaus. The tour starts near the town centre and leads along the village road towards Oberndorf. Once at the dam, the Spielbergweg runs up to the Spielberghaus. Attention: It could be up to you to bogs or skiers.
- Difficulty: medium
- Length: 6,4 km
- Duration: about 2 hours
- Start: village square Saalbach
Tip: As a crowning conclusion to the tour, you can rent a toboggan at the Spielberghaus for the downhill run.
3. The closing round:
for snowshoe fans
This easy to medium-heavy tour leads snowshoe hikers along the cross-country ski run to the end of Saalbach. Over picturesque streams and alpine pastures and through snow-covered forests, hard-working hikers with the bear tacts stagger to the Lindlingalm. Once there, they can strengthen themselves on a hut stop for the return journey. Downhill, you can either walk, toboggan or take a horse-drawn sleigh.
- Difficulty: easy to medium
- Length: 4,5 km
- Duration: about 2 hours
- Start: Valley end parking lot in Lengau
Bonus Tip: The Tree Zipper Path: for Families and “Wipfelstürmer”
The highest top hiking trail in Europe also makes a difference in winter. The “Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps” leads directly to the beginning of the tree zip path and offers breathtaking views. Then we walk along the nature trail from treetop to treetop through the forest. By the way, the trail is open daily from 11:00 to 21:00 and even illuminated in the evening.
