The best alternatives to bogerl driving and carving
What could be better than pulling your swings over perfectly groomed pistes? But sometimes you just want a bit of variety from the standard ski pleasure. How good that a winter vacation at the Hotel Barbarahof offers plenty of opportunities for this.
We, your hosts Katrin and Roland Steger, will tell you action-packed alternatives to bogerl driving and carving. And we’re sure: there will be a few surprises for you, too – and some that you should definitely try.
Fun on the boards – for young and old
Whether in the snow park, on the fun slopes and race tracks or while paragliding: the choice is huge when it comes to bringing a little action and variety to the holiday program. So that you don’t lose track, we’ve summarized the many options for you:
Skilful about boxes, rails and kickers
It gets spectacular in the snow parks of the region. But what is a snowpark? Quite simply: an obstacle park for skiers and snowboarders with ski jumps, railings and ramps. While in the past only the pros dared to tackle the impressive tricks, now also newbies have the opportunity to do so.

Boredom? Misreporting – on the Funslopes and Snow Trails!
Snow snails, steep curves, tunnels and waves make the Funslopes a highlight for the whole family and fun guarantors for in between. Like the Funslopes, the Snow Trails are packed with adventurous obstacles and exciting elements. The only difference is the relative naturalness of the trails. Often they are a bit off the slopes and therefore are not artificially snowed. In this case, Mother Nature decides on the route.

Adrenalinkicks without skis and board
If you want to leave the skis or the board at home, you will still get the ultimate winter enjoyment in the region. With Karacho over Timok’s Alpine Coaster, back on snowtubes down the mountain or floating high in the air above Saalbach-Hinterglemm: What do these outdoor activities all have in common? Fun and adrenaline in a dreamlike winter setting. And for once, without skis or snowboards.
Variety for toboggan fans
Tobogganing experiences of the slightly different – and admittedly more bubbly – kind are snowtubing or a ride on the Alpine Coaster. In the Alpine Coaster, you rush down the tracks on rails in the two-seater, while snowtubing is on air-pumped tyres. In both cases, the wild ride makes for tousled hair and an extra wide grin on the face!
Paragliding through Winter Wonderland
The dream of flying – in Saalbach-Hinterglemm it can become a reality. If you have always wanted to experience the beautiful mountain world of the Alps from a bird’s-eye view, you have the opportunity to do so by paragliding. High in the air, the glittering snowscapes look even more impressive. Tandem flights are offered by:
